Sad News….

December 31, 2008

Like many of you, I recently learned that Amy Taylor lost her courageous battle with breast cancer  on Saturday morning. My heart has been heavy as I think about this tragic loss and the incredible pain that her family is going through. We are thankful to Amy for her willingness to share her powerful story with the Hot Mama community.  Amy’s story has empowered so many of us to be better moms, live more passionate lives, enjoy simple moments,  and to BE PRESENT with those we love. Thank you Amy. May you rest in peace!

The Best Holiday Cookies to Make with Your Kids

December 17, 2008

Phew….My kids and I finally found some time to make holiday cookies this past weekend which is something that I LOVE to do with them every year. We’ve been making these cookies together since they were toddlers . This recipe gets my vote for “The Best Holiday Cookies to Make With Your Kids Award” (did you know there was such an award???) because there are so many steps that  kids can actually do themselves. Here’s what they love to do…. 1. Take the foil off of the Hersey Kisses. 2. Roll the dough into little balls 3. Dip the balls into sugar 4. Push the kisses onto the baked cookie. I wish you many simple ,yet meaningful moments with your kids this holiday season.

Happy Baking!

Introducing….Sara Happ

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub     The Lip Slip

Our stores just got our first luscious delivery The Lip Scrub and The Lip Slip by Sara Happ. We are already crazy about these two new beauty products that are just in time for winter. I don’t know about you, but my lips have been cracked, dry, and flaky this winter….not good!  I  applied both of Sara Happ’s products to my lips last week, and I am already hooked. First, gently exfoliate your dry, flaky lips with the Lip Scrub. Next, apply the ultra luxurious Lip Slip for  ultimate hydration. It feels SO good!!!! One more thing….the DARLING packaging that comes along with this incredible product makes The Lip Scrub and The Lip Slip  a perfect holiday gift for your friends.

Enjoy!

Brilliance

I am OBSESSED with quotes which is why I couldn’t resist  this book when I was out and about holiday shopping on Monday….It’s filled with wise and wonderful  thoughts and quotations from some of the most brilliant women in the world…..Enjoy some the quotes that have been especially inspiring to me:

“You gain strenth, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do”~ Eleanor Roosevelt

“Success doesn’t come to you, you go to it.” ~Marva Collins

Doing your best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment“. ~Oprah Winfrey

The walk and talks we have with our two-year-olds in red boots have a great deal to do with the values they will cherish as adults” ~Edith Hunter

People change and forget to tell each other.”~ Lillian Hellman

You can take no credit for beauty at sixteen. But if you are beautiful at sixty, it will be your soul’s own doing.” ~Marie Stopes

It has been a while!!!!

Happy December!!!!!

First, I want to apologize for being SO bad about blogging in November.  November was a busy month for me personally: leg surgery, birthdays, out-of-town-guests, Thanksgiving at my house, blah, blah, blah……Hopefully, I can get my act together and write more in December. Writing this blog is a lot like going to the gym or to the Yoga studio…the hardest part is getting there, but once I’m there I absolutely LOVE it!

Now that it’s December and there is snow on the ground (at least there is in Minnesota), I can’t wait to cozy up in my new favorite winter sweater coat by French Connection…let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!!
